LA GARDE FREINET- A lively small town with a huge cross and old fort built on top of the hill, this delightful village is just 3km from La Bergerie. It offers a great selection of restaurants, from the renowned Faucaudo with its flower covered courtyard to the Relais St Jacques with its crepes.

A colourful market comes on Sundays and Wednesdays. There are two bakers, two grocers, two butchers, paper shop, hardware store, antiques, estate agents, toys, wine shop.....

From time to time there are festivals, celebrations of the chestnut, transmigration of the sheep, antique fairs, art exhibitions and concerts.

ST TROPEZ - This celebrated fishing village is just 20 km from La Bergerie. All along the harbour you will see the beautiful people. On one side are the huge gin palaces and sleek yachts, on the other cafes and restaurants. The town is full of quaint winding streets and tempting shops. The castle and art gallery are well worth a visit.On the St Tropez peninsula are miles of sandy beaches.

GRIMAUD - Grimaud's ruined castle can be seen for miles around. The small village is full of flowers and the view towards the Gulf of St Tropez is breathtaking. A couple of miles further on is Port Grimaud. Built about 50 years ago it is a charming cluster of colourful houses each with its own boat mooring.

ILES D'HYERES - These islands to the west of St Tropez can be reached by boat from Le Lavendu, La Croix Valmer and Hyeres. They offer a haven of peace and beauty. You can explore on foot or by bike. There are glass bottom boat tours to see the under water treasures.

GORGES DE VERDON - A spectacular sight, worth the long drive. The steep gorges cradle a lake of incredibly bright blue water where you can hire pedalos. The town of Moustiers with its famous pottery sits above the lake.

NICE- This town has long been popular with the English – hence the Promenade des Anglais. With its long curving beach, elegantly laid out town, huge flower market and busy port Nice is an amazing experience. The art galleries, museums and Greek Orthodox church are well worth visiting.
